Picket Fence Earrings

Other than defining a boundary, the picket fence has little function in reality, yet the visual and social metaphor seems to serve a bigger purpose in most cases. I wonder what symbolic meanings are left with this well-recognised architectural element when the human body became its context.

Would others perceive the wearer in the same way as the homeowner of a property that has a white picket fence?
