Deck Edge Pendant
The concept for this pendant was conceived at the time when I was spending many hours at work reviewing drawings from a steel manufacturer for an apartment building project. My mind was flooded with steel details, so I decided to replicate a deck edge element that I had designed to support a series of balustrade panels.
While I was crafting the piece I thought to myself, "What would people do if they could shrink themselves down to occupy the space within the structural beam?"
I carved the main body of the pendant in wax and then cast it in sterling silver. The little people and front plates were then soldered on. The piece is oxidised to a dark finish and is about 90mm long and 40mm high.
